Organizes the Conference:

The endothelial cell and tumor angiogenesis

Romania, Timisoara: 19-21 April 2007

Invitation

Dear colleagues,

A scientific discovery rarely raises such an interest in the medical world as does the demonstration of the angiogenic-dependent character of malignant tumors. Such a basic discovery rarely passes so fast from an observational stage to the prognostic and therapeutic one. Thousands of articles are yearly published regarding the endothelial cell and normal and pathologic angiogenesis. There have been described the mechanisms of the process, there have been isolated angiogenic substances and numerous inhibitors. In this context, the angiogenesis with its many aspects represents a good field for fundamental research as well as clinical trials. We decided to organize this conference for the reason that there are still many unknown issues, in every segment of research: morphologically, molecular, prognostic and clinic. On the global scale there have been many groups established in this field, and in countries from the European Union and America tumor angiogenesis is a priority in research. We believe that this first manifestation of this type in Romania can only bring benefits through its interdisciplinary character. Theoretical and practical data on angiogenesis will support the introduction of anti-vascular drugs in our country.
