Technology of dental materials

The discipline of Materials Technology and Devices in Dental Medicine was officially established in 1993, together with the College of Dentistry within the Faculty of Dentistry, later the College of Dentistry being transformed into Specialization. At present, this discipline is being studied in the first year. Starting with the year 2021, the Specialization of Dental Prophylaxis Assistance has been re-established, after an interruption of several years, our discipline being studied in the first and second year. Since 2002, Prof. Univ. Dr. Lavinia Ardelean is serving as Head of the discipline. From 2002 to the present, the teachers of the discipline have contributed to the editing of 17 monographs, books, courses and specialized guides, 10 chapters in books, published over 100 specialized articles, of which more than 75 articles and ISI proceedings and they have held over 50 conferences and scientific papers at profile congresses in the country and abroad. Our discipline organized the International Congress Interdisciplinarity in current dentistry, Timişoara, 2008 and the International Congress Timmedica, 4th edition, Timişoara, 2011. Recently the head of the discipline focused on the activity of reviewer for journals with FI or BDI indexed, with over 190 of processed articles, this activity being recognized by offering Top reviewers in Cross-Field award 2019 and Top reviewers in Materials Science award 2019. In the period 2019-2022 she led 5 Special Issues, on topics related to the profile of the discipline, in ISI listed journals Polymers, Materials, Scanning, Coatings. As an academic editor, she currently coordinates the volume “Oral Health Care”, IntechOpen Publishing House, London.
