The Research Center for the Assessment of Human Motion (CEMFD)

Functionality and Disability is part of the Rehabilitation Medicine Discipline – Department of Balneology, Rehabilitation Medicine and Rheumatology, ”Victor Babes” University of Medicine and Pharmacy Timisoara.

The research center features a wide variety of resources to assist complex research activities – a cardiopulmonary exercise testing system (BTL Cardiopoint CPET), baropodometer for plantar pressure and postural balance assessments (PoData 2.0), hand-held dynamometer for muscular force assessment (Hogan MicroFet 2), virtual rehabilitation system (BIMEO PRO).

            CEMFD aims to:

• assess plantar pressure distribution and postural balance in healthy children and adults, as well as in different pathologies (musculoskeletal disorders, neurological disorders, genetic disorders, obesity);
• assess balance in high-level athletes, in order to identify those at high risk of injury;
• assess plantar pressure and balance in relationship with physical activity levels in children, adolescents and adults;
• assess cardiopulmonary function and exercise capacity in healthy and diseased;
• assess the musculoskeletal complaints in musicians;
• evaluate the disability in paediatric, neurologic, rheumatologic, orthopaedic and posttraumatic disorders;
• evaluate the efficiency of modern therapeutic modalities used in musculoskeletal rehabilitation;
• post-surgery rehabilitation;
• evaluate the impact of SARS-CoV-2 on physical and mental health.
