The Microbiology Department was established through the participation of three disciplines: Microbiology-Virology, Hygiene and Dermato-Venerology.
The human resource of the department is represented by 29 teachers (14 from Microbiology of which 7 teaching staff, 8 from Hygiene from which 7 teaching staff, 7 from Dermato-Venerology of which 2 teaching staff).
The subjects have the status of compulsory subjects at the Faculty of Medicine, the Faculty of Pharmacy and the Faculty of Dentistry.
Within the department there is an interdisciplinary collaboration regarding scientific research, materialized by:
- participation in research grants (Hygiene and Microbiology Disciplines)
- collaboration within the Multidisciplinary Center for Research on Antibiotic Resistance (MULTI-RES)
- collaboration within the Center for Studies in Preventive Medicine (Hygiene and Microbiology Disciplines)
- organizing scientific events.
The members of the department carry out their research activity in collaboration with the members of the disciplines from other departments.
