Department no. 1 of the Faculty of Dental Medicine was established on 01.10.2011 by reorganizing the departments existing until that date. The Director of the Department is Mrs. Prof. Dr. Jumanca Daniela. The 10 clinics and departments that are part of Department no. 1 are:

The research strategy of the department falls within that of the Faculty of Dental Medicine and aims at the following directions:

• Studies on the optimization and biocompatibility of materials used in dental medicine;
• Promotion of fundamental research in dental medicine; phenotyping and the development of innovative therapies;
• Development, standardization and promotion of interdisciplinary diagnostic methods in dentistry;
• Studies on the influence of environmental factors and nutrition on oral health status;
• Advanced practices applied in the technology of dental prostheses – modern applications in dental technique
