The Department of Biochemistry and Pharmacology was founded in 2011 and include two disciplines: the Discipline of Biochemistry and the Discipline of Pharmacology.
The discipline of Biochemistry provides medical education in the fields of Biochemistry and Clinical Biochemistry in the long-term curricula of General Medicine – in Romanian, General Medicine – in English, General Medicine – in French, Dental Medicine – in Romanian, Dental Medicine – in English and in the short-term education programs of General Health Care, General Health Care – Lugoj, General Health Care – Deva, Nutrition and Dietetics, Balneophysiokinetotherapy and recovery, Dental Technique, Pharmacy Assistance – Lugoj, as well as master’s programs: Modern applications of laboratory medicine in the personalization of the medical act and Clinical and community nutrition.
The discipline of Pharmacology provides courses in Pharmacology in the long-term curricula of General Medicine – in Romanian, General Medicine – in English, General Medicine – in French, Dental Medicine – in Romanian, Dental Medicine – in English, to the short-term education programs of General Medical Assistance, General Medical Assistance – Lugoj, General Medical Assistance – Deva, Nutrition and Dietetics, Balneophysiokinetotherapy and recovery, as well as in the master’s program of OTC medicine, food supplements, cosmetics.
The training activity in the field of medical education continues and postgraduate by organizing specific residency activities in the field of Laboratory Medicine and Clinical Pharmacology, organizing postgraduate courses and training of doctoral students in specific fields.
In parallel with the didactic activity, the department of Biochemistry and Pharmacology also carries out a scientific research activity, materialized in winning numerous research grants and materialized by publishing papers in reference scientific journals.
