Research and processing center for medicinal and aromatic plants (Plant-Med) through its titular members, associates and collaborators has as main objective one of the most important research directions at the moment, namely, the complex evaluation of plant extracts both from the point of view of the phytochemical profile as well as that of biological activity. Beside plant extracts, natural compounds represent another important objective of study, both from the point of view of evaluating the biological effects as well as of the physico-chemical modulations meant to increase their bioavailability as well as theirefficacy

Obtention, physico-chemical characterization and standardization of different types of extracts from cultivated and spontaneous medicinal and aromatic plants
Safety profile analysis (determination of metals) of the selected plant extracts
In vitro evaluation of the antioxidant, antiproliferative, pro-apoptotic, cytotoxic, antiinflammatory effect on various tumoral/healthy cell lines for the standardized extracts/phytocompounds of interest and after their physico-chemical modulations
Applications of the chorioallantoic membrane (CAM) assay: assessing toxicity, irritability, biocompatibility, inflammation and angiogenesis studies for the selected standardised extracts/phytocompounds
Evaluation of the antimicrobial effect for the standardized extract/phytocompounds of interest as such or after physico-chemical modulations
Clinical studies on different pathologies for the standardized extracts/phytocompounds of interest as such or after physico-chemical modulations (in collaboration with specialized centers in the pathologies of interest)
