Department II

Department II of the Faculty of Pharmacy within the “Victor Babeş” University of Medicine and Pharmacy of Timisoara was established in 2011, representing the continuation of the II Department of Pharmacy, established together with the Faculty of Pharmacy.

Department II consists of the following specialized university departements:

• Pharmacology, Physiology and Pathophysiology – coordinator Prof. univ. dr. farm. Codruta Şoica
• Pharmacognosy – Phytotherapy – coordinator Prof. univ. dr. farm. Corina Danciu
• Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Biochemistry – coordinator Prof. univ. dr. farm. Cristina Trandafirescu
• Pharmaceutical Technology – coordinator Prof. univ. dr. farm. Lavinia Vlaia
• Organic Chemistry – coordinator Prof. univ. dr. farm. Vicenţiu Vlaia

The human resource of Department II is represented by 38 university teachers and 45 laboratory workers. Department II of the Faculty of Pharmacy has a highly qualified human resource, as well as a continuously updated material base, which ensures the complex training of future specialists in the pharmaceutical field according to the most current European university curricular standards.

The subjects of the university departments within the department are included in the curriculum of the long-term bachelor’s degree programs (5 years) for the Faculty of Pharmacy (teaching in Romanian, French and English), as well as the curricula of the short-term bachelor’s degree programs (3 years) for Pharmacy Assistance-Deva,  respectively Medical Cosmetics and Cosmetic Product Technology.

The teachers of this department are also actively involved in:

• scientific research activity (materialized by winning numerous national and international research grants, through national and international collaborations and materialized by publishing papers in prestigious ISI specialized journals, respectively by participating in national and international conferences),
• postgraduate training activity by supporting postgraduate, master’s and residency training courses, as well as by preparing students for doctoral studies.
